Frequently asked questions

Is Tehilim for parnassa a "segulah"?

Tehilim are not amulets. They are prayers. When you say chapter 23 ("Hashem Ro'i") with intent, you are asking Hashem for parnassa. The Mishnah Berurah (§230) writes that prayer is always appropriate. But no chapter guarantees wealth without genuine effort in work and trade.

Which chapter is recited daily for parnassa?

Chapter 23 is the classic daily choice, typically said after Shacharit or Mincha. About a minute. Many follow the practice of saying it 7 times a day, sourced in R. Chaim Pelaggi's Sefer Segulot Tehilim. Others add chapter 145 ("Ashrei") daily.

Is chapter 23 for healing the same as for parnassa?

Same chapter. The difference is intent: said for healing of a specific person, or said for parnassa. The chapter speaks of Hashem as the Shepherd who provides for the flock's needs, so it fits both.

Best time of day to say it?

After Shacharit or Mincha is traditional, since prayer is already open then. Friday night before Kiddush and Motzei Shabbat after Havdalah are also accepted. No halachic obligation, but consistency (same time daily) matters more than the specific choice.
